Google chat hangs up phone when I accept a call

When I start a call through Google chat it hangs up on my partner's end.

Or if he calls me it hangs up my end.

I have a Motorola android phone.

This is extremely frustrating please help.

How long has this problem been happening?

Does it work if you start the call in the Google Meet app instead? (The voice and video calls in Chat are Meet calls)
