Unable to download files or open in new window in Chat

Suddenly, I am unable to download a file (small excel and others) from Google Chat. I can see the download button, but it doesn't do anything. When choosing 'open in a new window' it also won't do that. I have followed all the directions to check popups, downloads etc. I am able to do it from my macbook but not my mac.

I have a 2017 imac 5k Retina, Ventura 13.7.5

Is this still an issue for you?

If so, does it make a difference if you use a different web browser? You can try Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

Also try temporarily disabling all extensions in your browser.
