About automated calls and texts from Google to confirm business info

Google might occasionally contact the phone number listed on your Business Profile through call or text to confirm that your business info on Search is accurate. These calls and texts are automated and monitored by a live supervisor. When you confirm your current business info, this can encourage customers to visit your business.

How Google automated phone calls and texts work

Important: The calls are monitored and recorded for quality assurance.

You might get an automated call or text from Google to confirm details like operating hours or the status of in-demand inventory. Google will avoid calling during late night or early morning hours.

These calls and texts help ensure that Google provides accurate info to customers when they search for businesses. Any updates made to your Business Profile on Google Search and Maps as a result of these calls are reviewed and marked as “Pending.” The review might take up to 5 business days.

Tip: Google might also call your business on behalf of customers to do certain tasks like book appointments, check wait times, and confirm service pricing and availability. Learn more about automated calls from Google on behalf of customers.

How Google can post on your behalf

Important: Google’s posts on your behalf are available only to businesses with a verified Business Profile. You can opt out of this option at any time.

To save businesses time and effort updating their info, Google might post an update to your Business Profile on your behalf. The updates are based on the info you provide through automated phone calls, texts, or WhatsApp messages. Whenever Google uses info from your conversation to post on your behalf, you receive an email notification of the update. You can then review or remove that post. Learn how to edit a post.
