With Google Assistant built into your car, you can choose a language and turn on voice commands or personal results.
Turn personal results on or off
- Tap your car display home screen.
- Go to your apps.
- Tap Settings

Check and update your car’s Google Assistant
When you update Google Assistant in your car, you can get the latest features and experience.
- Tap your car display home screen.
- Go to your apps.
- Tap Settings
- If a new version is available, in the top right, tap Update.
- If you don’t find this option, no update is available.
Change language settings
Assistant features are not available in all countries and languages.
- Tap the car display home screen.
- Go to your apps.
- Tap Settings
- Tap Languages
Turn voice settings on or off
- Tap the car display home screen.
- Go to your apps.
- Tap Settings
- Turn on or off Say “Hey Google.”
Change your default navigation app
When you ask Google Assistant to navigate, it uses Google Maps by default. You can change your default navigation app to any navigation app that supports integrations with Google Assistant.
- Tap the car display home screen.
- Go to your apps.
- Tap Settings
- Tap Default navigation app.
- Select an application.
Tip: Navigation apps that don’t support navigation integrations with Google Assistant won't show up as an option.
What you can do offline
When you’re offline, Assistant can help you with some tasks, like navigate or send a text.
Important: If you’re offline and signed out of your Google Account, some of these features might not be available.
In your car, say a command. For example:
- “Call Home.”
- “Turn on the AC.”
- “Navigate to the closest gas station.”
- “Play radio.”
