Positioning and surroundings
The HP Dimension device that runs Google Beam is calibrated to a specific distance to present the clearest image and audio of you. While you don't have to sit absolutely still, following these guidelines will help ensure that your meeting partner feels like you're right across from them.
- Sit in the center of the table, and make sure that any items on the table like a laptop are out of view of the cameras.
- Don't lean more than an arm's length forward or back.
Focus on the 1:1 experience
Beam is designed to enhance 1:1 conversations, so while you're in a Beam meeting, make the most of it by preparing ahead of time and staying present.
- Consider ahead of time where Beam can help you add presence meaningfully across distance, like strategy sessions or performance reviews.
- Minimize chat use if possible to stay engaged with your meeting partner.
- (Google Meet only) If you're presenting, join in Companion mode once you get to the room, so you're ready to go.
