Share & manage devices with Find Hub

You can let a friend or family member share and locate a device or accessory, like your car keys, that have a tracker tag. You can stop sharing devices at any time and remove devices and accessories from Find Hub if you no longer own them.

Share an accessory or tracker tag

Important:
  • These steps only work on Android 9 and later. Learn how to check your Android version.
  • For the shared owner’s privacy, it takes several minutes to detect the location of the accessory or tracker tag after sharing is completed.
  • You can share your accessory or tracker tag with up to 10 loved ones so you can all locate your valuables in the app.
Step 1: Device owner sends a sharing invitation
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the accessory you want to share.
  3. Tap Share device.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    • You can send the invitation with any messaging app like text, email, or Quick Share.
Tip: Your friend or family member has 24 hours to accept the invitation.
Step 2: Recipient accepts the invite
  1. Your friend or family member opens the link you sent in your invitation on an Android Device.
  2. They are prompted to download the Find Hub app if it’s not already installed.
  3. They can choose whether to accept the invitation.
    • To accept: Tap Accept.
    • To decline: Tap Decline.
Tip: When you accept an invitation, under the shared device is a 4-digit PIN. You can use the PIN for added security.
Step 3: Device owner confirms sharing
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the accessory or device you want to share.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select the friend or family member.
  5. Choose whether to confirm sharing.
    • To confirm: Tap Confirm.
    • To cancel: Tap Cancel sharing.
Tip: When you accept an invitation, under the shared device is a 4-digit PIN. You can use the PIN for added security.

Stop sharing a device or accessory

Important: When you stop sharing a device or accessory, only the device owner can find its location.

If you’re the primary owner
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the shared device.
  3. Tap Settings .
Next to the person you want to stop sharing, tap More and then Stop sharing.
If you’re the secondary owner
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the shared device.
  3. Tap Settings .
  4. Tap Leave sharing.
Check tracker tag battery levels
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the device you want to check.
  3. Under the device name, check the power level on the Battery .

Tip: There are 3 battery levels: “OK,” “Low,” and “Very Low.” You should replace the battery or charge your tracker tag when it reaches “Low.” For more information about your tracker tag’s battery, refer to your device manufacturer.

Tips:

Remove an accessory or tracker tag

Important: When you remove a nearby tracker tag from Find Hub, all of its associated data, like the device it’s paired to and your email address, are also deleted.

  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the accessory you want to remove.
  3. Tap Settings and then Remove from Find Hub.
    • If you don’t have the accessory nearby, or if it can’t connect through Bluetooth, you’ll get the notification “Couldn’t remove device.”
    • To remove the accessory from Find Hub, tap Remove device.
Tip: To remove your data from a tracker tag, factory reset it with your device manufacturer’s instructions. Get help from your device manufacturer.

Share location of lost item with a web link

Important: If you use the link sharing feature to share your item location, it remains encrypted. To decrypt and display the location, a key is added to the link. The key is accessible to anyone signed in with a Google Account.

When your item with a tracker tag, like luggage, isn’t nearby, you can share the item location with a web link. You can share the item location with third parties such as airlines to help locate and recover your lost item. Learn more about what airlines are compatible with item location sharing.

What you need

  • A Find Hub compatible tag
  • An Android device connected with the tag
  • A Google Account
Share your item location

Important:

  • Until the link expires, anyone you shared it with can access your item location and contact details if marked as lost.
  • To provide updated locations, one of your devices needs to be online.

To share an item location, you must use your Android device.

  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the item whose location you want to share.
  3. Tap Share item location and then Share item location.
    • You’ll find this option only when your tag isn’t nearby.
  4. Copy the generated web link.
  5. Share the link with other apps, like your airline’s app.

Tip: The shared link automatically expires after 7 days and you get a notification. You can stop sharing at any time.

Stop sharing your item location
  1. On your device, tap Find Hub .
  2. Select the item whose location you want to stop sharing.
  3. Tap Share item location.
    • You can find the share link and its expiration date.
  4. Tap Stop sharing and then Stop sharing.
    • If you retrieve your item or if the link expires, sharing automatically stops.
Check a shared item location on a computer

To check a shared item location with a web link on a computer, you must be signed in with a Google Account.

  1. On your computer, open a web browser.
  2. Paste the shared web link into the browser's address bar.
  3. Press Enter.

The web page shows the item's last known location on the map. It also includes details such as when it was last seen.
