You can find the Android XR version and software updates in the Settings app. You'll get notifications when updates are available, but you can also check for them manually.
About Android XR system updates
Android XR devices receive regular software updates that include:
- New features
- Security enhancements
- Operating system updates
- Bug fixes and more
Updates roll out gradually, and are dependent on the device manufacturer. It may take a few weeks for the update to arrive on your device. You'll get a notification once the update is ready to install. To manually check your device for updates:
- On your Android XR device, open the Settings app.
- On the left, scroll to find “Software update.”
- To check for updates and download any available updates, select Software update.
- You'll find the update status. If there’s any, follow the steps on the screen.

Update your Android XR’s version
- On your Android XR device, open the Settings app.

- On the left, scroll to find “Software update.”
- To check for updates and download any available updates, select Software update.
- After the download is complete, you can select either:
- Install now: This prepares the update. Your device restarts to install the updates, then restarts again and returns back to the Home screen.
- Schedule install: Select a time
