Benefits
The Google & YouTube app automatically detects which of your tags are affected by the updates to the Thank-you and Order status page on Shopify and helps you efficiently migrate those tags without advanced knowledge of coding and website tagging.
You’ll also be able to choose and map your tags to a specific Shopify event before migrating it to the Google & YouTube app.
How it works
When tags that require migration are detected, you’ll receive an in-app notification with details about how to migrate your tags for compatibility and to avoid disruptions in your reporting. You’ll also be able to review any incompatible tags, Google Ads conversion actions, Google Analytics events, Merchant Center, and Floodlight tags, and map them to Shopify events.
If you don’t have access to the Google accounts associated with your tags, you can unselect that tag, or choose “Skip for now” in the dropdowns. You can still migrate the tag but you will get more accurate suggestions on how to migrate it by getting access to the associated Google account.
You might notice some tags showing up or not appearing in the list of tags that can be migrated. We analyze data from the past few weeks to identify tags that need migration. This means if a key conversion event, like a purchase, stopped happening more than a few weeks ago (for example, if you upgraded your thank you page around that time), the associated tag might not appear for migration. Conversely, if you recently removed a tag within the last few weeks, it might still show up on your migration list as we are still within the lookback window since its last recorded activity. This approach helps us focus on tags that were recently active, even if you've made changes recently.
Unsupported tag settings
The Google & YouTube app supports standard event & tag configuration. Some custom settings & code-based customizations may not be available. Your tag might include both privacy settings and features that aren’t supported by the Google & YouTube app. You can add that tag, but your previous settings won’t be reflected. Any tags that can’t be configured using the will be flagged and next steps will be provided within the app. Learn more about the Impact of the Google & YouTube app to your previous tag settings.
