Requirements to apply
Requirements for advertisers that provide abortions
You're considered a location-based abortion provider if you provide abortions at your own facilities.
Examples (non-exhaustive): Hospitals, clinics including both abortion clinics and non-specialised clinics, physician's offices where abortions are performed or abortion pills are directly dispensed
For United States advertisers only: You're considered a certified online pharmacy if you provide medication abortions or abortion pills, but don't dispense them to customers at your own facilities. For example, this includes providers authorised to dispense abortion pills by mail following a telemedicine consultation. To qualify, you must apply and be approved to advertise with Google per the prescription drug services requirements under healthcare and medicines: Prescription drug services policy. Apply here to be certified.
Requirements for advertisers that don’t provide abortions
You're considered an advertiser that does not provide abortions if you don’t provide abortions at your own facilities. This may include:
Examples (non-exhaustive): Organisations that provide pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, abortion counselling, general abortion information, abortion referrals or that otherwise serve pregnant individuals but do not provide abortions. For the purposes of this application and disclosure requirement, this may also include advertisers promoting non-service-based abortion content like books about abortion or perspectives on abortion.
Depending on your certification, Google will automatically add a disclosure of either 'Provides abortions' or 'Does not provide abortions' to your abortion-related search ads. Disclosures will be on all search ad formats to help users find ads that are relevant to them.
Bear in mind that Google has other restrictions for ads related to abortion. Learn more about the other restrictions for ads related to abortion.
How to apply
To run ads using queries related to getting an abortion, apply to advertise.
During the application process, you’ll identify whether your organisation provides abortions. After review, you'll then be certified as an advertiser that either provides abortions or does not provide abortions, and you'll be notified of your status. Once certified, you can immediately run ads using queries related to getting an abortion and Google will automatically generate the appropriate in-Search ad disclosure.
Your approval may be removed if at any point your account doesn’t meet application requirements. In addition, concealing or misstating information about the business, product or service that you’re promoting isn’t allowed under the Google Ads misrepresentation policy and may result in account suspension. It is also a violation of the circumventing systems policy to submit false information as part of our verification programmes; doing so may lead to account suspension.
