Google Ads values diversity and respect for others and strives to avoid offending users, so ads and destinations that display shocking content or promote hatred, intolerance, discrimination, or violence aren’t allowed. Learn more about the Inappropriate content policy.

Violations of this policy will not lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued at least 7 days prior to any suspension of your account. Learn more about suspended accounts.

The following is not allowed:

red x mark Promotions containing violent language, gruesome or disgusting imagery, or graphic images or accounts of physical trauma

Examples (non-exhaustive): Crime scene or accident photos, execution videos

red x mark Promotions containing gratuitous portrayals of bodily fluids or waste

Examples (non-exhaustive): Blood, guts, gore, sexual fluids, human or animal waste

red x mark Promotions containing obscene or profane language. Censoring a word with a sound effect is still considered a violation of the policy.

Examples (non-exhaustive): Swear or curse words, slurs relating to race or sexuality, variations and misspellings of profane languages

If the official name of your product, website, or app includes profane language, request a review and provide details of the name.

red x mark Promotions that are likely to shock or scare

Examples (non-exhaustive): Promotions that suggest you may be in danger, be infected with a disease, or be the victim of a conspiracy


Options to fix

If this policy is affecting your ad, review your options to fix below.

Edit your ads to comply with this policy

  1. Go to Ads within the Campaigns Campaigns Icon menu.
  2. Hover over the ad or asset and select Edit.
  3. Edit the ad or asset so that it complies with the policy.
  4. Select Save

Your ad will be automatically reviewed again. Check the ad’s status in the “Ads & assets” page for updates.

Appeal policy decision

If you believe there’s been an error and that you haven’t violated Google Ads' policies, appeal the policy decision directly from your Google Ads account to request a review. If the review determines that your ads are compliant, they can run again. If you aren't able to fix these violations or choose not to, remove your ad to help prevent your account from becoming suspended in the future for repeated policy violations.
