Account details that can’t be changed: Country Location and Account Ownership [AdSense Pro Post]
Dear community,
Since there are a few things that can’t be changed once an account is created, we want to make sure everybody is aware of what they are and what their impact is. Here are two of the biggest requests we see in the forum that are unfortunately impossible to do through the AdSense user interface.
Can I change the country my AdSense account is registered in?
- You cannot change your country once it has been selected. This means it’s important to pick the right one or you will have to close the account and create a new one!
- Important things to consider:
- Your payment method will be determined by the country you choose, you cannot receive your payments in a different country. Neither can you pick a form of payment not available in this particular geography.
- When picking a country you need to bear in mind that you will later be required to verify you or your business actually reside there and you will have to receive your Mail PIN at the address you provided within the country you chose. As stated above, you will also have to be paid there.
Account transfer
Can I transfer my AdSense account to somebody else?
- You can’t transfer ownership of an AdSense account.
- You can only change the payee name in your account to adjust for marriage, death, or company mergers. See this help center article for details.
- Attempting to transfer ownership may make it difficult for you to access or make changes to the account.
What if I bought a site from somebody else who was monetizing it on their own AdSense account?
- If you have purchased a website from somebody, you can add the website to your own AdSense account, there is no need to take over another AdSense account. It is possible to have a site approved on more than one account.
Note: The site will have to go through the standard approval process.
