1. Sign up for AdMob
To sign up for AdMob, you’ll need a Google account. You can create a new account in seconds or sign in to your existing Google account to get started. When you first sign up for AdMob, your account is reviewed before it’s approved. This typically takes up to 24 hours, but in rare cases can take up to 2 weeks.

2. Add your payment details
Your AdMob account is not ready for monetization, you won't be able to show ads, and your app won't be reviewed for monetization eligibility until you've added your payment information. Learn how to enter your payment details. You’ll be paid monthly if your total earnings meets your payment threshold and there's no payment hold on your account.
Also note, you will need to verify your identity and address once you’ve met the verification threshold in order to start receiving your payment. Learn more about steps to getting paid.
3. Set up your app
The next step is to set up your first app. Note that before you can fully serve ads, your app must be linked to a supported store and undergo an app readiness review. There are two ways to set up an app:
- Published: Choose this option if your app is listed in an app store that AdMob supports, if you’ve tested your app, and you believe it’s ready to serve ads.
- Unpublished: Choose this option if your app isn’t listed in an app store yet, or if you still need to set up and test an unpublished app. You can also choose this option if your app is in a store that AdMob doesn’t support.
Your app will be automatically reviewed once it’s listed in a store that AdMob supports and set up as a published app in AdMob. If your app isn’t listed in a supported store yet, you can come back and link it to a supported store later.
The first key step is to set up your app. Set up a published app if you believe you are ready to serve ads.
4. Verify your app ownership
Verify ownership of any new apps added to your AdMob account by setting up an app-ads.txt file for your app. App-ads.txt lets advertisers know which ad sources are authorized to sell ad inventory. Add an app-ads.txt file to your developer website and start generating ad requests. We'll verify that your app-ads.txt is set up correctly. Apps created after January 2025 that are not verified will face limited ad serving, which may negatively impact your revenue.
5. Create ad units to display ads
Once you’ve added your app, it’s time to create ad units. When creating an ad unit, you can decide which formats are best for your app. There are many to choose from, including banner, native, interstitial, and more.
After you’ve picked your format and created the ad unit, you’ll need to add the ad unit ID to your app. Use the developer documentation for Android, iOS, and Unity to learn how to integrate each ad format into your app.
6. Add the Google Mobile Ads SDK and test your ad
- Add the Google Mobile Ads SDK - Android, iOS, Unity
- Test the SDK integration and the ads - Android, iOS, Unity
Next steps:
If you’ve completed all the steps so far, you’re ready to make money in your app from Google demand sources only. This means that only Google ad sources will fill your inventory. However, you can also set up mediation to have third-party ad sources compete to fill your inventory, which may help maximize your revenue.
