Users in your organization might be able to access their work account data through the Microsoft Outlook app without the app respecting your management settings. Use the following workaround to enforce security settings.

Step 1: Manage the Microsoft Outlook app

  1. For Android, set up Microsoft Outlook as a managed app.
  2. For iOS, set up Microsoft Outlook as a managed app. Requires advanced mobile management

During setup, check the Make this a managed app box.

Step 2: Restrict access to Gmail and Drive services

  1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

  2. Go to Menu and then Security > Access and data control > API controls.

Requires having the Security settings administrator privilege.

  3. Click Manage Google services.
  4. Locate Gmail and Drive in the list of services. If Access is set to Unrestricted, change the value to Restricted.
