Migrating files from SharePoint Online using the new data migration service is currently in beta and subject to the Pre-General Availability Offerings Terms in the Google Workspace Service Specific Terms.
Use the new data migration service to migrate files from Microsoft SharePoint Online to your organization's Google Workspace account. After you set up the migration in the Google Admin console, the process takes place in the cloud. You can use the service to migrate files for up to 100 SharePoint Online sites at a time.

Requirements & setup steps for Google Workspace
- Make sure a super administrator sets up and runs the migration. Resellers can't migrate data for their customer accounts.
- You need to create shared drives in Google Workspace for your organization’s files. For details, go to Set up shared drives for your organization. If you already use shared drives, go to Manage shared drives as an admin instead.
- You must give each Google Workspace user a user account before they can sign in and use Google services. File migration only migrates data to accounts of existing users. It doesn't create user accounts from the data it migrates. For details about user accounts, go to Options for adding users.

Before your users can start to use migrated data, they need a user license. For details, go to How licensing works.

Turn on Google Drive for all users you are migrating. For details, go to Turn Google Drive and Docs on or off for users.
Requirements for SharePoint Online
- The migration must be run by a Global Administrator.
- A good comprehension of your Microsoft tenant setup. You need the site URL for each site that has files that you want to migrate. To get a list of the site URLs in your tenant, go to Manage sites in SharePoint admin center.

File migration is intended as a productivity feature and is not designed to assist with legal compliance matters. You and your organization are responsible for assessing and meeting your organization's legal compliance needs. If you require files and folders for legal compliance purposes, consider backing up the files in SharePoint Online prior to migrating data to Google Workspace.
