If you aren't using Google Workspace for Education, learn how to get more user accounts here.
Google Workspace for Education domains created on or after November 13, 2024 provide 2,500 Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals licenses. Early in 2025, Google Workspace for Education domains will also receive 2,500 Gmail Only User licenses, as well as 2,500 Archived User licenses. For institutions that are transitioned to the new licensing model starting in March 2025, you will receive an equivalent number of Education Fundamentals licenses as users in your domain at the time of transition (inclusive of both active and suspended users), plus an additional buffer. Gmail Only and Archived User licenses will be provided at the same quantity as Education Fundamentals licenses.
Request additional licenses
Note: If your Google Workspace for Education domain was created on or after November 13, 2024, you can see the total number of available licenses in your Google Admin console.
- Check how many of your Education Fundamentals licenses you're currently using—Any requests for additional licenses will be rejected if you aren't already using the licenses available to you.
In your Google Admin console, you can download a list of users to know the total number of accounts you have available.
Note: For existing domains that have transitioned to the new Google Workspace for Education subscription or if your Google Workspace for Education domain was created on or after November 13, 2024, you can see the total number of available licenses in your Admin console under Billing
Subscriptions.
- Request additional licenses—If more licenses are required to cover active faculty, staff, and/or currently enrolled students, contact Google Workspace support. You'll be asked to provide detailed information, such as total student enrollment and current active usage. Requests may take up to 2 weeks to process.
- Add the accounts—If you're approved for additional licenses, add the users to your Google Admin console.
