Upgrade or downgrade your subscription

You can upgrade or downgrade between Colab Pro and Colab Pro+ at any time. Your next bill is prorated based on the number of days before and after you switched subscriptions. Users’ compute units are also prorated at the time of the switch.

To upgrade only a portion of your Colab Pro licenses to Colab Pro+, contact a Google sales representative or Google Cloud partner.

If you’re on the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan

If you upgrade from Colab Pro to Colab Pro+ while you’re on the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan with yearly payments, you switch to the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan with monthly payments for the remainder of your commitment term. You get a credit toward your current subscription for any remaining balance from your yearly payment .

To downgrade from Colab Pro+ to Colab Pro while you’re on the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan, you need to switch to the Flexible Plan. For details, go to Switch from Annual/Fixed-Term to Flexible Plan.

Switch Colab editions

You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

   If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

2. Go to Menu  Billing > Get more services.

   Requires having the Billing Management administrator privilege.

3. Next to the edition that you want to switch, click Upgrade, Downgrade, or Switch.
4. Review the impact that this change will have, then click Next.
5. If your current subscription is on the Flexible Plan, select a payment plan for your new subscription:

   • Flexible Plan—No long-term commitment, pay for the users that you have each month, and add or remove users as needed.
   • Annual Plan (Monthly Payment)—Requires a one-year contract. Pay a monthly user commitment and add users as needed. To increase the number of users, for users needed, enter a new number. The Annual Plan is not available when you downgrade to a lower-level edition.
6. If your current subscription is on the Annual Plan (yearly or monthly payments), select Annual Plan (Monthly Payment) as the payment plan for your new subscription.
7. (Optional) To add a promotional code, for Flexible Plan, click Add promotion code and enter the code.
8. Click CheckoutPlace Order.
