Set default camera framing for meeting rooms

As an administrator for your organization, you can set up the default camera framing setting for your physical Google Meet meeting rooms so that users don't have to readjust for every meeting. You can choose defaults individually for each device or for many devices at once with a bulk update.

Set the default camera framing for a device

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

  2. Go to Menu and then Devices > Google Meet hardware > Devices.

Some features may require having the Manage devices privilege for Google Meet hardware.

  3. Click the name of the device.
  4. Click Device settings.
  5. Click Default camera framing.
  6. Choose your primary and fallback framing methods. The fallback method is used if the primary method is unavailable.
    1. No preference—(Default) Meet recommends a framing setup on a case-by-case basis.
    2. No automatic framing—No framing is applied.
    3. Manufacturer framing—The camera manufacturer's built-in framing, if available.
    4. Dynamic tiles—If there are 3 or fewer users in the room, each user is split into a separate tile on the meeting screen. If there are more than 3 users, the entire room is framed in a single tile.
Dynamic tiles performs best in smaller rooms where users are sitting no more than 10 feet from the camera.
  7. Click Save.
