Set recording quality limits for Google Meet

You can record your video meetings in high quality at 1080p. If saving Drive space is a bigger priority for your organization, you can limit screen share recording quality.

Before you begin: If needed, learn how to apply the setting to a department or group.

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

    If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

  2. Click Meet video settings.
  3. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced). Show me how

  4. Click Recording quality and check or uncheck the Record at highest available resolution when conditions allow box.
  5. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

    To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit (or Unset for a group).

Changes can take up to 24 hours but typically happen more quickly. Learn more
